According to Chief J. Noe Diaz, who spoke during a news conference, there were four people on board at the time of the crash. “Unfortunately, we have confirmed multiple deaths,” he said, though the identities of those on board have not yet been disclosed. The helicopter, identified as a Robinson R44, had taken off from Ellington Field, but authorities are still working to determine its intended destination.

The Houston Fire Department reported that the helicopter struck a radio tower before igniting in flames.
