2027 Bombshell: PDP Zoning Gives Presidential Ticket To South — Wike Reveals

Wike made this known on Friday night while speaking to journalists after inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome in Abuja, the venue for the party’s national convention scheduled for March 29 and 30.

He explained that key party positions have already been allocated across regions to maintain balance, noting that the presidency has been zoned to the South, while the national chairmanship has been reserved for the North. According to him, this consensus arrangement is expected to simplify the convention process.

Wike added that, unlike in the past, the PDP is presenting a united front, with members aligning on a common direction rather than being divided into factions. He also stated that preparations for the convention are almost complete, with about 95 percent of arrangements finalized, including seating and logistics for delegates.

He affirmed that the party would proceed with the convention as planned, despite ongoing legal challenges, including a Supreme Court appeal by a group led by Tanimu Turaki, which he said would not disrupt the process.

While acknowledging the presence of grievances within the party, Wike assured that efforts would continue to reconcile aggrieved members after the convention. He emphasized that disagreements are natural in a large political party and reiterated PDP’s commitment to accommodating diverse interests.

Expressing optimism, Wike said the PDP is positioning itself for a strong comeback in the 2027 elections, adding that the party’s performance would surprise many Nigerians.
