Obasa made the statement on Thursday when Hamzat visited his official residence in Ikeja as part of ongoing consultations with APC leaders and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.

During the visit, Obasa praised Hamzat’s role in infrastructure development and his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing him as a dependable party figure.

He openly expressed support for Hamzat’s governorship ambition and pledged backing to ensure electoral success. According to him, party discussions have consistently pointed to Hamzat as the next leader of the state.

In his words, Obasa said Hamzat has shown strong commitment to the party and effective service delivery in Lagos, adding that efforts would be made to secure victory for him at the polls.

In response, Deputy Governor Hamzat thanked the Speaker for the reception and acknowledged his political experience and influence within the party structure.

Hamzat stressed that his consultations were focused on continuity and inclusive development rather than personal ambition, noting that Lagos remains a collective project requiring cooperation among stakeholders.
