9ice Reveals His ‘Solution’ To Nigeria’s Crisis, Questions Impact Of Religious Practices

He shared his views on Wednesday night during the listening party of his album Beginning of Wisdom, held in Yaba, Lagos.

The singer said he has previously explored both Christianity and Islam but believes Nigeria has not recorded meaningful progress despite the frequent invocation of Jesus and Allah.

According to him, the country needs to reconnect with its cultural roots in order to achieve better governance and real development.

He added that many of Nigeria’s problems have not been addressed at their root, which he believes is a major reason for the country’s continued struggles despite its vast natural resources.

9ice noted that Nigeria is richly endowed with oil, bitumen, and other resources, yet still faces persistent economic and developmental challenges.

He contrasted this with countries like the United Kingdom, where he said people prioritise work and productivity over excessive religious activities.

He stated: “For us to have a good president in Nigeria, we need to go back to our roots. Many of our problems are not being addressed from the foundation. If the God we call upon is truly enough, we would not feel the need to compete with anyone. Whatever I do should not concern you. We need to return to our roots.

“Since we started calling on Jesus and Allah, this country has not gotten better. We have oil, we have bitumen, we have everything, yet we are still lagging. If you go to London, nobody goes to church; they go to work. Here, we go to church on Sunday, Bible study on Wednesday, and night vigil on Friday. When do we go to work?”
