The controversy stemmed from concerns raised by some Northern figures following governmental decisions to relocate certain institutions from Abuja to Lagos earlier this year. These actions were interpreted by critics as detrimental to Northern Nigeria, a notion firmly denied by the Federal Government.
Shettima, addressing the issue directly, emphasized Tinubu’s inclusive governance approach, citing appointments of Northerners to key positions such as Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, and Chairman of the Police Service Commission. He underscored these appointments as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to national unity and dismissed allegations of regional bias.
“In due course, we will present evidence to refute claims of President Tinubu’s alleged bias against the North, perpetuated by dissatisfied elements seeking to sow discord between the government and its citizens,” Shettima declared.
Highlighting the imperative of national unity and collective progress, Shettima called for solidarity across political divides. He stressed that Nigeria’s development hinges on collaborative efforts, transcending partisan affiliations for the greater good of the nation.
“It’s time for all Nigerians, regardless of political leanings, to rally behind the President’s agenda and fulfill our collective responsibility to build a prosperous Nigeria,” Shettima concluded.
The Vice President’s remarks aimed to dispel misinformation and foster a united front in advancing the nation’s interests, reinforcing the call for cohesive governance amid political diversity.
