Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has vowed to directly confront Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike over recent remarks made during an event. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Sani, who previously represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, responded to Wike’s challenge to outline his contributions to democracy during his Senate tenure.
Visibly incensed, Sani accused the former Rivers State Governor of intentionally speaking last at events to avoid rebuttals. “Next time we attend an event, I know his tactic: speaking last to close discussion. That won’t happen again. He will receive a response,” Sani asserted.
While acknowledging Wike as a friend, Sani expressed a preference for addressing such matters in person rather than on TV. He cited instances where Wike strategically positioned himself at event closings to evade criticism. “When the opportunity arises next, I will engage him,” Sani affirmed.
Regarding Wike’s remarks on Senate contributions to democracy, Sani stressed they weren’t aimed personally at him but at the Senate’s role in democratic advancements. He clarified he didn’t view Wike’s comments as a personal slight, highlighting their shared history in the struggle against military rule.
