Former House of Representatives member Mark Gbillah has called for transparency in revealing the findings of the House’s investigation into the presidential jet’s issues. Gbillah, who represented Benue State’s Gwer East/Gwer West Federal constituency in the 9th Assembly and previously chaired an investigation committee on crude oil theft, made these remarks during an appearance on Channels TV.

He suggested that the aircraft’s operational lifespan remains within acceptable limits, attributing its problems possibly to inadequate maintenance. Gbillah emphasized the importance of public disclosure regarding the outcomes of any investigations, urging the National Assembly to involve aviation experts to assess the true condition of Nigeria’s presidential fleet.

Gbillah argued against the immediate procurement of a new presidential aircraft, citing the country’s challenging economic conditions. He pointed out that recent incidents, such as the aircraft’s inability to fly to Saudi Arabia after a trip to Paris, might not necessarily stem from technical faults but could instead be due to oversight or maintenance lapses.
