The Chairman of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Hashimu Dungurawa, has called on President Bola Tinubu to break his silence on the Kano Emirate crisis, warning that his inaction could jeopardize his presidential ambitions in 2027. Dungurawa, speaking from his office in Lugard House to reporters on Sunday, emphasized that Tinubu’s perceived indifference to the ongoing crisis could tarnish his reputation and electoral prospects.
“The ongoing Emirate crisis is already damaging the President’s reputation. It’s crucial for him to take decisive action,” Dungurawa stated. He cautioned Tinubu that using the issue to gain support in Kano could backfire during the elections. Dungurawa also hinted at NNPP’s plan to nominate Rabiu Kwankwaso as their presidential candidate for 2027, citing Kwankwaso’s ability to secure victory.
“We will nominate Kwankwaso as our presidential candidate in 2027 because he is currently the strongest contender for the Presidency and has a promising chance of winning,” he affirmed.
