During the Sixth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union in Accra, Ghana, Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu, serving as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, highlighted these initiatives in a comprehensive one-year report.

In addition to these efforts, the regional bloc is actively exploring alternative funding avenues to support its $2.6 billion Standby Force.

According to a statement from Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu stated, “ECOWAS has allocated $9 million to assist vulnerable groups, including refugees, internally displaced persons, and asylum seekers. The frontline Member States combating terrorism have also received $4 million through the ECOWAS Counter Terrorism Humanitarian Response.”
