The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has opted out of the planned nationwide protest against the current economic challenges in Nigeria, citing reasons of timing and effectiveness. ACF emphasized that participating in the protest would not serve the interests of Northern Nigeria or the nation as a whole. Instead, the forum urged Northern residents to refrain from involvement in the demonstrations.
Additionally, ACF expressed deep concerns about pervasive multidimensional poverty and escalating violent crimes in the Northern region, which hinder development efforts. However, the forum lauded Governor Sani for his initiatives in rural development and social reconciliation, applauding these efforts as pivotal in addressing insecurity and poverty in the North.
“We have long awaited an opportunity to express our appreciation for Governor Sani’s visionary policies aimed at transforming rural areas and fostering social cohesion in Kaduna State. Such dedicated initiatives are crucial amid the rising challenges of poverty and criminality plaguing the North,” the group stated.
