In a recent interview on Channels TV, Fayose criticized the practice of having multiple wives and children among impoverished individuals, suggesting that it places an undue burden on the government. He cited an encounter in a Northern state where a security guard, earning N34,000, supports four wives and sixteen children.

Senator Sani, alongside many other Northerners, has deemed Fayose’s comments unacceptable and offensive. In a statement on his official X account, Sani described the remarks as “contemptuous and unconscionable,” urging Fayose to retract his statement and issue a formal apology.

“Even though Fayose spoke as an individual, his reported statement about Northerners is both contemptuous and unconscionable. I recommend he humbly withdraws his comments and offers an apology as a matter of statesmanship,” Sani said.
