Wike made this statement following a meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on the same day. The protests in the FCT saw large-scale demonstrations and led to security forces using tear gas to disperse the crowds.

During a ceremony where he handed over the Staff of Office to the newly coronated Chiefs of Karu, Kwali, Pai, and Yaba, Wike emphasized the Federal Government’s willingness to engage in dialogue with the protesters.

He urged for continued efforts towards peace, stating, “I encourage everyone to continue promoting peace, as those who foster peace will ultimately benefit from it.”

Wike also promised that the government would address any misunderstandings and provide necessary information to help protesters make well-informed decisions.
