In response to Yusuf’s allegations, Ganduje labeled them as absurd and baseless. Yusuf had suggested that individuals hired by Ganduje vandalized the court and removed critical documents linked to the former governor’s legal battles, which include serious bribery charges involving Ganduje, his wife, Hafsat, and their son, Umar.

Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, criticized Yusuf’s assertion, questioning the governor’s ability to manage Kano State’s security and judicial systems. He pointed out that even if documents were removed from the court, copies would still be held by the government’s legal representatives.

Yusuf’s claim followed an on-the-spot assessment of the vandalized court, which was damaged during recent anti-hunger protests. Yusuf had suggested the vandalism was a coordinated effort by Ganduje’s associates.

Ganduje’s spokesperson dismissed the allegations as a ridiculous attempt to shift focus from the state government’s alleged failures. He argued that the suggestion of carefully selecting and stealing trial documents during a protest was implausible and reflective of poor governance.

“The claim that protesters targeted specific legal documents is an insult to common sense,” Olofu said. “This is a transparent attempt by Yusuf’s administration to distract from their own shortcomings. We urge Kano’s citizens to remain calm as investigations proceed and avoid being swayed by such unfounded claims.
