The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, has responded to a viral video featuring a Nigerian man encouraging Igbos to burn down Lagos State in reaction to the recent “Igbos Must Go” campaign circulating on social media……..CONTINUE READING
In the video, the man, who appears to be from the Southeast, urged Igbos in Lagos to stay vigilant, saying, “Igbos in Lagos should keep their eyes open. Don’t sleep with both eyes closed. If someone pushes you, push back. Now that they are shouting ‘Igbos must go,’ you all need to unite. Plan how you will defend yourselves and your property. Plan how you will throw them into the Lagoon. If things escalate, head straight to the Oba and throw him into the Lagoon. Burn down Lagos.”
Akosile condemned the man’s remarks, labeling him as an “imbecile” and stating that such hateful, divisive, and bigoted comments are being made on social media to incite violence against Lagosians, and by extension, Yorubas, who he described as peaceful and tolerant people.
