In his speech at the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos, delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu highlighted his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and democratic principles. He praised the NBA for its role in promoting democracy and maintaining legal standards, and reaffirmed his administration’s respect for the separation of powers and tolerance for lawful dissent.

Tinubu’s comments come amid criticism of recent policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and other economic reforms, which have increased hardships for many Nigerians. Despite the criticism, Tinubu remains optimistic about the long-term benefits of these changes. He stated, “This administration will continue to uphold the rule of law, respect the principles of separation of powers, and allow lawful dissent.”

He acknowledged the current challenges but urged Nigerians not to adopt a defeatist attitude. Instead, he encouraged perseverance in working toward a better future. “Nigeria cannot continue on its previous path if we are to achieve sustainable development. We must address past issues and rebuild the nation.”

Tinubu recognized that implementing change involves difficult decisions and tough outcomes but expressed confidence that these efforts will soon lead to relief for the nation. “Although changing the status quo is challenging, I am confident that our policies will soon bring the desired improvements,” he concluded.
