Bandits have killed an engineer, Bello Ahmad Gobir, in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Bello was attacked on his way to his hometown of Gobir on Sunday, August 25.

This incident follows the recent murder of the Emir of Gobir, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, in Gatawa town by bandits. Additionally, University Professor Bello Bada reported that over 150 people were kidnapped by bandits in the region.

In an interview with Radio France International (RFI) Hausa Service, Bada criticized the authorities for their failure to address the growing banditry. He noted that while attacks on prominent figures are not new, the murder of the Emir of Gobir represents a disturbing escalation.

Bada also recounted similar attacks on other monarchs, including a failed attempt on the Emir of Potiskum and the killing of members of the Emir of Kauran Namoda’s entourage. He expressed concern that such violent acts are quickly forgotten until the bandits strike again.
