In the video, the young woman explained that her mother developed mental health issues after her father’s death. She mentioned that her mother initially took care of the family but eventually deteriorated and began living on the streets.

 

 

 

Responding to the video, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye expressed her disapproval, stating that such actions are unacceptable. She emphasized that mental health issues should be met with compassion and support, not exploitation. The Minister also called for information regarding the mother’s whereabouts to ensure she receives the proper care and protection she needs.

Through her social media platform, the Minister issued a statement titled “URGENT CONDEMNATION AND CALL TO ACTION.” She condemned the act, highlighting the troubling nature of exploiting vulnerable individuals, especially those with mental health challenges. She stressed that mental illness requires understanding and support, not ridicule or exploitation.

The Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs is urgently seeking information about the woman’s identity and condition, offering a reward for assistance in locating her. The Minister urged the public to respect the dignity and humanity of those dealing with mental health issues and to report similar cases immediately. She called on everyone to join efforts in preventing such exploitation and in supporting those most in need.
