NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi reported that Aderinoye, who had been in hiding since a January 2024 raid linked her to drug activities, turned herself in on August 28, 2024. Aderinoye, the former Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation, had been hiding in Akure, Ondo State, since fleeing the initial raid.
During the raid on her home, NDLEA operatives, with estate representatives present, discovered 606 grams of Canadian Loud (a potent synthetic cannabis), an electronic weighing scale, substantial quantities of drug packaging materials, and a black RAV4 SUV with Lagos license plates, among other items.
In related operations, NDLEA agents seized 1,122 kilograms of cannabis from a suspect named Mustapha Ibrahim along Orchid Road in Ajah, Lagos State, on August 26. An additional 816 kilograms of cannabis, belonging to another suspect who remains at large, was also recovered from the same location.
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended the agency’s officers for their dedication and efforts in tackling drug-related crimes. He underscored the significance of both drug demand and supply reduction strategies in the agency’s ongoing mission.
