Five suspects—Okorie Miracle, Joshua Ifeanyi Ekwa, Aneke Okorie, Mmesoma Faithful, and Chukwuzekwu Mba—all males aged between 20 and 26 from Umunze—were arrested. The police recovered locally made shotguns, vandalized electricity cables, and tools used in the crimes. The suspects have admitted to the vandalism and are cooperating with the police to identify other gang members and buyers of the stolen items.

Additionally, on September 13, 2024, at around 9:30 am, the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) stopped Chigozie Ejikeme, a 25-year-old from Abagana, who acted suspiciously while attempting to evade a security checkpoint along Nise/Agulu Road. Ejikeme was found with a locally made Beretta pistol and one live 9mm ammunition concealed on his person. He admitted to being a member of the Black Axe secret cult. His vehicle, a black Lexus, was also seized.
