The Federal Government has reaffirmed its dedication to addressing the various security challenges affecting different regions of the country.
This was emphasized by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, during a presidential delegation visit to Yobe State, following a recent attack in Mafa community. The visit was aimed at consoling the government and people of the state.
Edun highlighted that the delegation’s presence reflected the Federal Government’s commitment to ending insecurity and promoting national peace and stability. On behalf of President Tinubu, the Minister extended sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Yobe State.
Also part of the delegation, National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu assured that the battle against terrorism and banditry in Nigeria was nearing a decisive end. He praised the efforts of the military and security forces in curbing terrorism in the Northeast and fighting crime across the nation.
“The security agencies have made incredible sacrifices to protect lives and property in Nigeria. What we are witnessing now is the beginning of the end. Soon, the entire country will be secured,” Ribadu assured.
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni expressed his gratitude for the visit, saying it gave the people of Yobe a sense of belonging. He also commended President Tinubu for providing strong leadership during such challenging times.
In a similar gesture, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, visited Damaturu to express solidarity with the government and people of Yobe State.
Ganduje emphasized that the NWC’s visit was to show unity with the people of the state during this period of tragedy. “We share the pain and grief of the people of Yobe State and are here to offer our heartfelt condolences to our brothers and sisters affected by this senseless violence,” Ganduje stated.
Separately, it was reported that the Borno State Commissioner for Finance, Ahmed Ali Ahmed, was found dead in his room. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear as investigations are ongoing.
