“The Bauchi State Police Command is committed to ensuring public safety and security. Recently, one suspect has been arrested, and 95 stolen rail line components have been recovered,” the statement read.
Following the intelligence from the Bauchi Scraps and Wastes Dealers Association, police arrested 29-year-old Heli Hassan and seized the rail track components.
The suspect admitted to conspiring with Jacob Sulaiman, who is currently at large, to vandalize and steal critical rail track components on September 24, 2024, around 11 PM in the Inkil quarters of Bauchi.
“This incident poses a significant threat to public safety and is a serious act of economic sabotage concerning vital infrastructure that connects the Inkil community with Gombe State,” the statement added.
The case has been thoroughly documented for an in-depth investigation, and efforts are underway to locate Jacob Sulaiman.
