DAILY POST reported that the First Lady passed away on Thursday in an undisclosed hospital after a brief illness. Her death was confirmed in a statement released on Friday morning by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Emembong.

In response to this tragic news, PDP spokesperson Edwin Ebiese issued a statement confirming the halt of campaign activities. He stated, “This devastating news has left our party and the entire state in mourning. As we struggle to come to terms with this immense loss, we are compelled to pause our campaign activities as a mark of respect for the departed First Lady.”

The Local Government elections are scheduled to take place across the 31 LGAs of the state on October 5, 2024.
