According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, the presentation occurred on Wednesday, September 3, 2024, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. The funds were allocated to the families of officers who lost their lives in active service, as well as to those injured in accidents while performing their official duties.
This initiative is part of the police welfare programs aimed at supporting the families of deceased officers and assisting those injured in the line of duty. It also serves as encouragement for active officers to remain dedicated to their responsibilities.
The statement noted, “The CP, on behalf of the IGP, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers and recognized the sacrifices made by these fallen heroes.”
Onuoha reaffirmed IGP Egbetokun’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of all officers, including those currently serving, retired, or deceased. He urged accident victims to focus on their recovery and advised the families of the deceased to utilize the funds to improve their living conditions.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to IGP Egbetokun for this support and pledged to use the funds responsibly.
