In Response To Bribery Allegations, Gov Aiyedatiwa Terminates SA’s AppointmentThe Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed Adeboye Taofiq Ewenla, his Special Assistant on Forestry for the Central Senatorial District. This decision was made in light of allegations of bribery and intimidation involving Ewenla.

A statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, in Akure, confirmed that the dismissal is effective immediately. The governor has also launched an investigation into the activities of individuals responsible for managing the state’s forest reserves.

The statement reads, “The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has terminated the appointment of the Special Assistant on Forestry (Central Senatorial District), Mr. Adeboye Taofiq Ewenla, effective immediately. This action follows allegations of bribery and intimidation made against Mr. Ewenla by certain timber merchants in the state. Governor Aiyedatiwa has ordered a probe into the operations of those tasked with managing the state’s forest reserves.”

The statement further mentioned that a replacement for Mr. Ewenla will be announced soon, and the governor urged all political appointees to act in accordance with the law and regulations governing their roles.

In a related development, the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Governor Aiyedatiwa for neglecting the health sector. In a statement issued on Monday, the opposition party expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of medical facilities in the state since Aiyedatiwa took office 10 months ago. According to the party’s publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei, there is a shortage of medical doctors and health personnel as neighboring states have attracted them with better packages.

Peretei highlighted that Ondo used to be a medical tourism destination for many in the Southwest, but the current healthcare crisis has severely affected rural areas, which are now experiencing the worst impacts of the situation.
