The Super Eagles B squad entered the second phase of their preparations on Tuesday ahead of the crucial two-legged Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Ghana, slated for December. After wrapping up an initial training camp last Thursday, players were allowed to rejoin their clubs for weekend Nigeria Premier Football League matches. On Tuesday, 26 players returned to the national camp, with a 32-man roster selected by interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen.
New additions include rising stars such as goalkeeper Kayode Bankole of Remo Stars, Suur Kumaga from Lobi Stars, and Ossu Martin. Experienced winger Bernard Ovoke joins the roster alongside Aniekeme Okon and Ubong Friday from Rivers United, while Dominion Ohaka from Under-23 and Water FC is another promising inclusion. Eguavoen has also called on a trio from Kano PillarsāAbiam Nelson, Aminu Adams, and Sudais Alibabaābalancing seasoned players with emerging talent.
All players are expected to arrive promptly for intensive training sessions led by assistant coaches Fidelis Ikechukwu and Daniel Amokachi, as Eguavoen fulfills an overseas assignment. These sessions aim to sharpen player skills and foster team cohesion before the qualifiers.
The first leg is set for Ghana between December 20-22, with the second leg following in Nigeria the next week. The team that emerges victorious will secure a spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament, a key milestone in the Super Eagles B teamās quest for continental success.
