Police Arrest Suspect In Connection With Murder Of FarmerThe Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder of a farmer, Sikiru Onaolapo. Tensions heightened in Ilobu on Tuesday when Onaolapo’s lifeless body was transported to the entrance of the Olobu of Ilobu’s palace in a vehicle, prompting local unrest.
Yemisi Opalola, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and stated that the police had taken additional measures to ensure peace in the region. “We have deployed extra personnel, including tactical team operatives, to Ifon and Ilobu to prevent further violence. The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, has been holding discussions with both communities,” Opalola told Punch.
She also confirmed that one suspect is in custody, though the individual’s identity has not been disclosed. Opalola reassured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that the authorities are committed to ensuring justice is served. “We urge residents to remain calm and law-abiding as we continue our investigation,” she added.
