Garba Shehu, the former spokesperson to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo in a birthday message to his former boss on Buhari’s 82nd birthday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to BushRadio, Shehu used the occasion to accuse Obasanjo of undermining his successors, claiming the former president frequently wrote to shame them or even called for their removal after elections.

In his tribute to Buhari, Shehu commended his former principal for staying away from Abuja, allowing the new administration the necessary space to establish itself. Since leaving office on May 29, 2023, Buhari has only visited the capital twice, fulfilling his promise to remain distant and avoid overshadowing the new government.

Shehu also highlighted Buhari’s post-office lifestyle, which revolves around a simpler routine—keeping up with the news, spending time with his grandchildren, hosting guests, inspecting his farm, and indulging in his love for reading and watching TV.

In contrast, Shehu pointed out that Obasanjo, following his tenure both as a military leader and an elected president, has written to and criticized every subsequent head of state, attempting to discredit them and, in some cases, demanding their resignation or removal in the next election.

Shehu also praised Buhari’s decision to stay away from the political scene after leaving office, stating, “His willingness to renounce power is extraordinarily admirable.” He noted that Buhari only visited Abuja twice after his presidency: once to launch Femi Adesina’s book Working With Buhari, and another time for a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Council of State.
