A reconciliation committee set up by the party’s national headquarters met with state officials on Monday in an effort to restore harmony and strengthen the party.

The APC, which successfully produced the Adamawa State Governor in 2015, faced setbacks in the 2019 and 2023 elections, falling short of regaining power. In both instances, the party attributed its narrow losses to internal disputes. Recognizing the persistence of these issues following the 2023 election, the party decided to establish the reconciliation committee.

The committee’s meeting with party officials on Monday emphasized that victory in the 2027 elections is an achievable goal.

Led by Senator Mohammed Mana, who represented Adamawa North District from 2007 to 2011, the committee includes Isa Baba as Secretary and former senators Abubakar Halilu Girei, Bello Tukur, and Binta Garba, alongside Mrs. Bridget Zidon, Martins Babale, and Yusuf Yakub as members.

During the meeting at the APC state secretariat in Yola, Mana underscored that as a grassroots party, the APC’s ability to mend internal divisions would strengthen it, enabling it to take power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa.

Mana also commended the National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the party leader in the state, for his efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and help the party regain its prominence in the state.

In his address, the state party chairman, Idris Shuaibu, expressed optimism that the reconciliation efforts would pave the way for the APC’s success in the 2027 governorship election.
