Odili had commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for allegedly preventing an individual from turning Rivers State into a private estate—a comment widely interpreted as a veiled reference to Wike.

In a statement on Saturday, Fubara’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, quoted Odili speaking at an event on Friday in Port Harcourt, praising Fubara’s resilience and leadership amid the ongoing political tensions.

Reacting to Odili’s comments, Olayinka expressed disappointment in a post on X (formerly Twitter), accusing the former governor of abandoning the role of an elder statesman and engaging in partisan rhetoric.

“Reading the comments made by former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili about the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, today, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. It’s disheartening that someone of his stature has stooped to such a ridiculous level of partisanship,” Olayinka wrote.

Wike’s aides further condemned what they described as Odili’s loss of statesmanship, suggesting that his remarks reflected a diminished role in fostering unity and leadership.
