Northern Power Brokers, Not Obi, Seen As Key Opposition To Tinubu, New Claims Reveal

In an interview with Tribune, Omokri clarified that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration does not view Obi as its primary opposition.
According to Omokri, the real opposition to the government comes from key northern politicians who are critical of Tinubu. He advised the president to focus more on the concerns of politicians from the North-West and other northern regions.
Omokri emphasized that the voting population of the South-East is likely smaller than that of Kano State, underscoring that Tinubu is a shrewd election strategist. “The current government does not see Peter Obi as its main opposition. So, why would they unleash me on him? Their primary opposition is, rightly or wrongly, northern politicians who are against the president,” he explained.
He also pointed out that Tinubu garnered more votes from the North-West than from his own South-West region in the 2023 election. Omokri added, “If I were the president, I would focus more on what people from the North-West and other parts of the North are saying.”
Further explaining his support for the Tinubu administration, Omokri said, “Two years ago, I visited Nigeria and said that any government with Mallam Nuhu Ribadu in it is one I cannot oppose. I value my relationship with Ribadu more than anyone else, except for my immediate family. He has been a trusted figure in my life, and I cannot fight any government he is part of
