Edo State Sh*cked By ₦12bn ‘Environmental Security’ Cover-Up, Okpebholo Points To PDP LeadersBenin City, Edo State – Governor Monday Okpebholo has accused 18 suspended local government council chairmen of remitting over ₦12 billion to leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the guise of “Environmental Security Funding.”Bushradiogist reports During a courtesy visit by acting chairmen and councilors to the Government House on January 7, Governor Okpebholo disclosed the alleged scheme. “I noticed unusual entries tagged ‘Environmental Security Funding’ involving substantial amounts,” Okpebholo explained. “Despite requests for clarification, the suspended chairmen failed to provide their records within the stipulated time frame.”

Two council chairmen, along with their deputies in Esan North-East and Akoko-Edo, have already been impeached by councilors for “gross misconduct and abuse of office.”

Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability as efforts continue to address alleged financial improprieties within the local government councils.
