Bandits Strike Again: ₦540 Million Ransom Demanded For Katsina Hospital Kidnap Victims

Among those kidnapped is Yusuf Muhammad Mairuwa, the Assistant Director of Nursing Services and head of the hospital’s nursing department.

According to Daily Post, sources revealed that the bandits are demanding ₦270 million for the release of Mairuwa and an additional ₦270 million for the other hospital staff and workers from a nearby fertilizer factory who were also abducted during the attack.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has condemned the incident, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the safety and security of healthcare workers.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda acknowledged progress in reducing such attacks but emphasized that the task is far from over.

“We are reassessing our security strategy to ensure that medical professionals can carry out their essential work without fear,” the governor said. “The safety of our healthcare workers and residents is our top priority.”
