Igbokwe noted that in the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election, El-Rufai took legal action, accusing Emefiele of crafting financial policies, including the controversial naira redesign, to derail Tinubu’s campaign. The policies, widely criticized for causing economic hardship, were seen by some as a calculated effort to sabotage Tinubu’s chances.

El-Rufai has recently faced backlash within the APC after voicing discontent with the party, claiming it has deviated from its foundational principles. He also criticized the inactivity of key APC organs over the past two years.

In a Facebook post, Igbokwe dismissed the criticisms against El-Rufai, highlighting his contributions. “Do not bring negative stories about El-Rufai to me. I focus on positives. Where were you when he boldly went to court to challenge Emefiele’s fraudulent monetary policy aimed at PBAT?” he wrote.

He further alleged that the monetary policy was a deliberate ploy by individuals from a particular region to disrupt Tinubu’s campaign, concluding, “The plot failed woefully.”
