The tweet, which sparked widespread backlash, has since been deleted.

Clarifying his stance, Bashir wrote: “My tweet about Southern Kaduna residents and persecuted Fulani herdsmen was in bad taste and poorly worded in an attempt to make a point in the heat of the moment. I apologize to those who know me and understand that I do not hold such sentiments.”

His initial tweet was in response to a post by an X user, @qykali, who criticized him for calling President Bola Tinubu “Pablo” and accused his father of enabling ethnic violence in Southern Kaduna during his time as governor.

Reacting angrily, Bashir had replied: “It is your stupid mother that is an elephant. And Southern Kaduna residents will keep seeing ‘shege’ (trouble or suffering) if they continue to attack indigenous Fulani herdsmen. Oloshi.”
