Oba Owoade’s ascension to the throne marks the end of a three-year wait since the passing of the previous monarch, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. The new Alaafin and Governor Makinde made their entrance in a convoy of vehicles, with Owoade seated in a sleek Mercedes Benz G-Wagon.
The coronation ceremony, which began with fanfare as early as 7 a.m., was marked by a large security presence and the attendance of dignitaries from across the country.
President Bola Tinubu was represented by the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
Other notable attendees included Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, the Statistician General of the Federation and CEO of the National Bureau of Statistics; Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, wife of the Oyo Governor; Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal; Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi; Chief of Staff to the Ondo Governor, Prince Olusegun Omojuwa; Oyo Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin; Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, and other prominent government officials.
