Tension In Kogi: Gunmen Invade Natasha Akpoti’s Family Home, Police Confirm Attack
The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed an attack on the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District. The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Obeiba, Okehi Local Government Area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, revealed the development during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja. He said, “The Okehi Divisional Police Officer has reported the unfortunate criminal incident to the command. While no arrests have been made yet, investigations are underway, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice.”
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, reacting to the attack, noted that the assailants likely believed she was in town at the time. According to her, local residents and security operatives responded swiftly, driving the attackers away without any casualties. A formal report has since been lodged with the police in the area.
In a statement released by her media team, the assault was described as a “deliberate attempt to silence” the senator. The statement further urged the Inspector-General of Police to immediately reinstate her security detail in light of the severity of the attack.
“We strongly condemn the cowardly attack on Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family home in Obeiba-Ihima on Tuesday, April 15,” the statement read. “We call for calm and emphasize that her unwavering commitment to truth and effective representation should not be met with violence or intimidation.”
