Speaking at a press conference in Kano, El-Rufai emphasized that his stance is rooted in patriotism, stating his readiness to oppose any individual or action that endangers the country’s well-being — regardless of personal ties.

“I’m not mobilising against the government. This is not about political power or the current leadership. My concern is Nigeria’s deteriorating socio-economic state,” he said.

He added, “If you’re content with how things are, that’s your choice. But if you’re not, then let’s unite to fix it. It’s not about who’s in office; it’s about protecting Nigeria.”

El-Rufai went further to stress his commitment to national interest, saying, “Even if my own father poses a threat to Nigeria, I wouldn’t hesitate to confront him. Nigeria comes first.”

Reflecting on the opportunities the country afforded him, he said, “My education and confidence to compete globally are thanks to Nigeria. I want the same opportunities for today’s youth, and right now, they don’t exist. That’s what we’re fighting for — not for personal or political gain.”
