The suspension was announced in a statement released on Saturday by the Director General of Media and Publicity at the Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim.
In a strongly worded release, the government disassociated itself from the aide’s claims, describing the statement as a personal opinion made “for reasons best known to him.”
Governor Yusuf’s office emphasized that political appointees are required to seek prior approval before making public statements on matters of government policy or sensitive political issues.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy for unauthorized public communication, the government warned all political appointees to refrain from speaking beyond their official mandates.
The statement further clarified that only the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Garba Wayya, is permitted to speak on behalf of the Kano State Government, while Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa remains the sole spokesperson for the Governor.
“This administration is firmly committed to ensuring that all public communication upholds the values of integrity, accuracy, and collective responsibility,” the statement concluded.
Rabi’u has been directed to respond to the query and may face additional disciplinary action depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
