This Is Unacceptable!’ – APC Leader Explodes Over Buni’s Controversial Sunday Meeting

A key figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Daniel Musa, has voiced strong objections to plans by the North East zonal coordinator of the APC and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, to hold a crucial party meeting on a Sunday morning—a time traditionally reserved for Christian worship.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo on Friday, Musa criticized the decision to schedule the North East zonal consultative meeting for 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, describing it as an act that potentially sidelines the party’s Christian members.

While acknowledging the possibility that the timing may have been unintentional, Musa warned that failure to adjust the schedule would send “dangerous signals” about the APC’s stance on inclusivity and religious balance.

“This schedule is deeply concerning. It coincides with Sunday services, a sacred time for Christian worshippers. Whether by oversight or intent, the decision reflects either insensitivity or deliberate exclusion—both are unacceptable,” he stated.

He stressed that unless corrected, such actions could reinforce existing perceptions of religious bias within the APC, ultimately harming the party’s internal cohesion and electoral prospects.

Musa urged the party’s leadership to recognize Nigeria’s religious pluralism and conduct political engagements in a way that respects all faiths. Drawing a comparison, he questioned whether such a meeting would ever be planned during Friday Juma’ah prayers, implying a troubling double standard.

“The APC already faces criticism for being seen as favoring one religion. We must avoid actions that further validate that view,” Musa warned.

He concluded by calling on Governor Buni and the North East APC leadership to reschedule the meeting to a more inclusive time that ensures participation from both Christian and Muslim members.
