The Lagos State Government had launched a coroner’s inquest to investigate the controversial circumstances surrounding the singer’s untimely death.

Delivering the court’s findings on Friday, July 11, 2025, Magistrate C.A. Shotobi concluded that Ogedengbe acted with gross negligence by administering an injection to Mohbad without proper authorization from a licensed doctor.

While the court ruled out homicide or foul play, it described the nurse’s actions as unlawful and professionally negligent.

Magistrate Shotobi stated:
“In accordance with Section 29 of the Coroner Laws of Lagos State, this court recommends that the Director of Public Prosecutions initiate criminal proceedings against Feyisayo Ogedengbe for practicing medicine without a license and for gross professional negligence.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly criticized fellow artist Zlatan Ibile for remaining silent about the circumstances of Mohbad’s death.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at age 27. His passing sparked national outrage, especially after reports emerged that he was treated by an unlicensed nurse prior to his death.

Tensions escalated further after an old video resurfaced showing Mohbad being harassed during a video shoot by Sam Larry, a close associate of Naira Marley. Zlatan was also seen at the scene but has yet to publicly comment on the incident.

The controversy reignited after outspoken online critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) released an interview with Sam Larry, triggering renewed public pressure on those involved to speak out.

Zlatan, in his defense, allegedly said his mother advised him to stay out of the situation to avoid conflict — a justification Portable rejected in a viral video, accusing Zlatan of using his mother as a shield to dodge responsibility.
