Buhari passed away on Sunday afternoon at a London clinic after a prolonged illness. He was 82.
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, confirmed the change during a media briefing on Monday. He explained that after consultations with Buhari’s family and key stakeholders, it was agreed that the burial would be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in Daura.
The late President’s remains are expected to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday, two days after his death was officially announced.
A high-level Federal Government delegation, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will receive the body. The team left Nigeria early Monday for London on the orders of President Bola Tinubu.
Upon arriving in the UK, the delegation was received by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, alongside Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, and other dignitaries.
A host of top government officials, political associates, and former heads of state are expected to pay their final respects as the nation bids farewell to one of its most notable leaders.
