Head coach Justin Madugu’s Super Falcons are aiming to clinch a historic 10th WAFCON title. So far, the Nigerian team has recorded four wins and a draw, scoring 11 goals and conceding only once on their way to the final.

In a motivational video shared on the team’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, praised the players and coaching staff for their remarkable efforts and urged them to end the tournament on a triumphant note.

“My beautiful and lovely Super Falcons, I congratulate you and the officials for qualifying for the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations,” she said.
“I applaud your teamwork, resolve, and professionalism throughout the tournament. You are role models to girls across Nigeria and Africa.
As you take to the pitch for the final match, I pray for a resounding victory. You are our champions and ambassadors. Nigerians and I eagerly await your return—with the trophy.”

The Super Falcons began their campaign with victories over Tunisia and Botswana before drawing with Algeria. They crushed Zambia 5-0 in the quarter-finals and edged past South Africa 2-1 in the semi-finals.

However, the team may be without star forward Francisca Ordega, who suffered an injury during training ahead of the semi-final. The Al-Ittihad Ladies striker missed that match and has yet to return to full training. Ordega, who has made only one appearance in the tournament, is chasing her fifth WAFCON title with Nigeria.

The final will also serve as a revenge opportunity, as Nigeria looks to avenge their 2022 semi-final penalty shootout loss to Morocco.
