On Tuesday, the Kano State Government formally received the committee’s report, which investigated the alleged role of Commissioner Dantiye Namadi in facilitating Danwawu’s release.

However, by Wednesday, Namadi had tendered his resignation through a statement signed by Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House.

He explained that the decision was made in the public interest, given the sensitive nature of the allegations.

“As a member of an administration that has tirelessly championed the war against illicit drugs, I feel compelled to step down, painful as the decision may be,” the statement read.

“Though I maintain my innocence, I cannot disregard the impact of public perception or the importance of safeguarding the values we’ve worked hard to uphold.”

Namadi expressed his gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the opportunity to serve and reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and responsible leadership.

“As a responsible citizen, I believe it is my duty to protect and uphold the vision and trust this administration has established. I remain loyal to the ideals that brought us into office.”

The statement confirmed that Governor Yusuf had accepted Namadi’s resignation and wished him well in his future endeavours.

The governor also reiterated his administration’s strong commitment to justice, discipline, and the ongoing fight against drug abuse and other societal vices, especially those affecting youth.

He further advised political appointees to approach sensitive matters with caution and to seek approval from higher authorities before engaging in public interest issues.
