The father of four highlighted the invaluable love he receives from his fans, describing it as something money can’t buy. According to him, the unwavering support—fans traveling from far and wide just to see him perform—holds a special place in his heart.

Davido noted that his performances attract both loyal and new fans, thanks to his ever-growing music catalogue. Despite being in the limelight, he admitted he lives a relatively open life:

“My life is pretty out there,” he said.

Speaking on the global rise of Afrobeats, Davido reflected on the responsibilities that come with being one of the genre’s biggest ambassadors. He recalled relocating to the U.S. to study music and gradually introducing Nigerian sounds and culture to his peers. From convincing Atlanta clubs to play his songs to eventually dominating radio charts, his rise was steady but challenging.

Looking back at 2011—when he dropped the breakthrough hit Dami Duro—Davido shared what he would tell his younger self: the road ahead would be long, filled with both triumphs and trials. He never imagined reaching the heights he has today.

He also spoke about his early musical influences. While hip-hop dominated his childhood playlist, his teenage years saw a shift as he fell in love with Nigerian music. He credits artistes like D’banj, Don Jazzy, 2Baba, and P-Square for shaping his musical journey and inspiring his ambitions.
