Seventeen countries have now secured their spots at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as anticipation builds for the first-ever edition of the tournament jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The three North American hosts qualified automatically, setting the stage for an unprecedented football festival spread across multiple cities.

From Asia, Japan became the first to book a ticket on March 20, 2025, with Iran following five days later. New Zealand clinched Oceania’s sole guaranteed berth on March 24 after a 3–0 win over New Caledonia. Jordan, South Korea, Uzbekistan, and Australia later joined the list, with Australia sealing their qualification on June 5.

South America has maintained its strong presence, with Argentina confirming qualification after a key draw between Uruguay and Bolivia in March. Brazil and Ecuador followed in June, while Uruguay, Paraguay, and Colombia punched their tickets in early September — bringing CONMEBOL’s total representation to six.

Africa also made its mark, with Morocco becoming the first nation from the continent to qualify, continuing their impressive run after their historic 2022 performance in Qatar.
