Love Or Friendship? Waje Opens Up On Her Bond With MI Abaga

Speculations about a romance between the two artists emerged in the 2010s after they released several love-themed collaborations that showcased undeniable chemistry.

However, speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Waje clarified that their relationship was purely professional and friendly.

She explained:

“Because of the romantic concept behind One Naira, a lot of people assumed we were dating. But we never did. We were just friends who wanted to tell a beautiful love story through music. In fact, it was his then-girlfriend who did the voice-over, not me.”

The singer also got candid about her views on love and relationships, revealing that she wouldn’t consider dating or marrying a man who isn’t financially stable.

“I can’t marry someone who is not successful — and here’s why: I’m not in my 20s anymore, so we’re not growing together. A man should lead by inspiring and setting goals I can aspire to. If he can’t do that, we can’t be partners. Success, faith, and emotional intelligence all matter to me,” she said.

Waje further noted that she would not date a younger man, saying their relationship dynamic would likely become problematic.

“It just wouldn’t work. I’m very pragmatic, and sometimes I have to check myself even with friends or family. Imagine if it were a husband — he’d get tired because I’d probably treat him like a child,” she added.
