Speaking on Sunday during his acceptance speech, shortly after being declared the winner of the November 8 poll, Soludo lauded the performance of INEC under its new Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, calling the election an “impressive debut” for the electoral chief.
“To the Independent National Electoral Commission, I must express my profound gratitude—particularly to the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan,” Soludo stated. “This was your first major outing, and as the saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. I’m glad your first impression is a resounding success.”
The governor noted that the just-concluded election marked another milestone in the steady evolution of Anambra’s democratic process, crediting INEC’s increased use of technology for enhancing transparency and efficiency.
“INEC delivered excellently,” he continued. “Since I began participating actively in Anambra’s elections—especially from 2017 when technological innovations were introduced—each exercise has shown significant improvement. This, without doubt, is the best-organized election in Anambra so far.”
Soludo also commended the August bye-election as “superb,” adding that the November 8 governorship poll “surpassed even that standard.”
He expressed deep appreciation to INEC officials, security agencies, and voters for their orderly and peaceful conduct, which he said reflected growing public trust in the state’s democratic institutions.
Governor Soludo emerged victorious with 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, who polled 99,445 votes.
