The arrest was carried out by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team and was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday via the police’s official website.

While authorities acknowledged the arrest, they did not specify the allegations against Eshun or detail the exact conduct under investigation.

“The Ghana Police Service confirms the arrest of Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team,” the statement said. “The action forms part of ongoing measures to monitor and address cyber-related activities, particularly in the period leading up to 31st night religious services.”

The development comes amid public speculation linking the arrest to recent security warnings against prophecies or public declarations capable of causing fear, panic, or unrest.

Ebo Noah had recently gone viral after building a large wooden structure he called an ark and predicting a catastrophic flood beginning on December 25. He claimed the ark was constructed following divine instruction and warned of three years of heavy rainfall unless people repented.

However, in a video shared last week, he said the impending disaster had been averted after further fasting and prayers. According to him, a new revelation showed the ark was already full and that God had granted additional time to construct more arks.

Police confirmed that Eshun remains in custody to assist with investigations, stressing that no formal charges, bail conditions, or court dates have been announced.

“The Ghana Police Service urges the public to remain calm and avoid speculation,” the statement added, assuring that any legal action would follow due process and that Eshun is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
