Zaynab Ngohemba, the newly wedded wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has explained the reasons behind their recent union.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The couple, who tied the knot a few weeks ago in a low-key and private ceremony, drew public interest due to Akume’s prominent government role and Zaynab’s own public profile.

In a statement issued by her media aide, David Adeoye, Zaynab described the marriage as a deliberate partnership founded on maturity, common values and a shared sense of purpose.

She emphasised that the decision was not about personal reinvention or transformation, but about bringing together two individuals already committed to service and responsibility.

According to the statement, their marriage symbolises “a union shaped by maturity, shared purpose and mutual understanding,” stressing that personal stability plays a crucial role in effective leadership and public service.

“It is the union of two people already devoted to serving the public,” the statement noted, adding that the partnership strengthens core values such as humility, discipline, empathy and accountability.

Adeoye further explained that the marriage conveys a broader message at a time when Nigerians are calling for integrity, compassion and responsibility from those in positions of authority.

He said the union reflects a leadership outlook that blends authority with empathy and governance with genuine service, suggesting that leaders are more effective when grounded in strong personal values.

“At a time when Nigerians expect greater humanity from their leaders, this union subtly underscores that service is most effective when rooted in shared values, stability and long-term vision,” the statement said.

Zaynab, formerly known as Zaynab Otiti Obanor, was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. That traditional marriage, which took place in March 2016, ended in separation in 2017, during which period she was widely known as Olori Wuraola.
