Politics Meets Spectacle: APC Secretary Shares Video With Fubara Amid Tinubu Campaign Chants
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has shared a video featuring Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In the clip, a crowd can be heard chanting, “Tinubu, on your mandate we shall stand,” a campaign slogan closely linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2023 presidential bid. Basiru accompanied the post with the caption, “Still on Jagaban Mandate!!!”
The video surfaced amid rising political tension in Rivers State. Recently, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, cautioned Basiru against meddling in the state’s political affairs, describing Rivers as a “no-go area” for external political interference.
Wike issued the warning during a thanksgiving visit to Oyigbo Local Government Area, alleging that certain political actors were making inflammatory statements about Rivers politics because of what he claimed was ₦600 billion in state funds.
The FCT minister’s remarks followed comments reportedly made by the APC Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, who allegedly referred to Fubara as a “so-called governor” and suggested that the governor would struggle to secure a second term without Wike’s support.
In response, Basiru earlier condemned Giadom’s comments, calling them inappropriate and stressing that the office of the governor deserves respect irrespective of political differences.
Basiru also warned Wike to desist from actions he said were capable of destabilising the ruling party, adding that the minister should resign from President Tinubu’s cabinet and focus on Rivers State politics if he cannot refrain from interfering in APC internal matters.
